Cheshire is blessed with some of the best wedding venues in the uk … here are some of our favourites.

Hello, and welcome to Cheshire wedding venues blog. We are The Crawleys, Liam and Bee. We are multi award winning Cheshire wedding photographers who approach our image making with a strong creative style with an emphasis on the story. We have been photographing weddings UK wide and destination weddings in our unique creative style since 2002 and would love to hear about your wedding plans so feel free to pop us an email or WhatsApp.

Cheshire. Our home county and the place where we started our journey as a wedding photographer. As well as getting to know this rural area pretty well we would often head up the road to Manchester to flex our photography muscles with some awesome urban weddings. Since then we’ve been lucky enough to have travelled and captured weddings across the world but sometimes, it’s just pretty ace to come home.

If you don’t already know Cheshire, Urban Dictionary’s definition is quite a good start!

Cheshire is a well-heeled and well-to-do county in the North(ish) of England. It is where people own Range Rovers, cows, and occasionally large expanses of land. It’s also home to many Manchester United footballers.

“Cripes! Look how flat it is and how many cows there are. We must be in Cheshire”’.

As well as being famous for cheese and the historic city of Chester, Cheshire is also home to many world-class wedding venues and a whole load of incredibly talented industry suppliers that we have got to know and love over the years. We’re going to look at 15 of the best Cheshire wedding venues in order to spread the love of our home county a little bit further. Some we're sure you'll know, Iscoyd Park for example – one of the finest venues in the UK, and some you may not be so familiar with. Enjoy!

top 5 cheshire wedding venues

Capesthorne Hall

Set in the heart of Cheshire, near Siddington, and surrounded by 100 acres of estate owned countryside, lies the incredible Capesthorne Hall. The hall itself really is a sight to behold as you enter the estate … a truly stunning building fusing neoclassical and jacobean architectural features. This Cheshire wedding venue ticks all the boxes and is perfect for weddings all year round. Say your vows in the magnificent drawing room with its stunning chandeliers and italian paintings. And then there is the Queen Anne room with its beautiful ornate fireplace, perfect for your wedding breakfast and can seat up to 80 people. This amazing Cheshire wedding venue definitely deserves its place in our top 5.

Abbeywood estate cheshire wedding venue

The Abbeywood Estate

The Abbeywood Estate is another one of our absolute favourite Cheshire wedding venues and thoroughly deserves its place in our top 5. The Abbeywood is a 45 acre estate located within a stones throw of Delamere Forest and has been home to the Rowlinson family since 1987. The Abbeywood Estate is famed for its lush formal gardens packed full of beautiful plants from all over the world. Added to this they also have panoramic views towards the Utkinton Hills, a wildlife walk, and 27 acres of pine tree woodland … as a couple on your wedding day you really are spoiled for choice when it comes to beautiful backdrops for your photographs. You’re also spoilt for choice when it comes to the spaces on offer for your ceremony and wedding breakfast. There is the glass house, which is a beautiful conservatory filled with natural light. There is the garden cafe with its rustic charm and vaulted ceiling. The orangery, perfect for intimate celebrations and with views towards the exotic garden. And not forgetting the majestic splendour of the main house.

Delamere manor cheshire wedding venue

Delamere Manor

Delamere Manor is a real corker of a Cheshire wedding venue. Located not far from the stunning Delamere Forest, and set in over 100 acres of rolling Cheshire countryside, there are so many reasons you should choose this place as your perfect wedding venue. Originally the old abode of Gary Barlow from the boy band Take That, this stunning venue won the English Wedding Awards title of ‘Most Romantic Wedding Venue in the UK’. The venue offers countless possibilities for stunning photographs and the contemporary glass fronted courtyard has a retractable roof which is perfect for your summer wedding breakfast. This Cheshire wedding venue has the perfect mix of classic and contemporary features and also has the ability for you to say your ‘I do’s’ outside on the patio, with magnificent views over the surrounding countryside. It even has its own nightclub for your evening party, which used to be Gary Barlow’s recording studio!

tatton park cheshire wedding venue

Tatton Park

Tatton’s business is not exclusively weddings, but it is no surprise that this country estate is firmly established as one of the North West’s leading wedding venues. The ornamental gardens are breath-taking, the collection of art is inspiring, and we don't think we will ever tire of spotting wild deer as we make our way up the drive.

For such a grand and imposing estate Tatton is incredibly versatile. They have several options available to wedding couples, regardless of event size, or season. Each option has been carefully considered and makes the most of the space available. From Lord Egerton’s Apartment for an intimate meal for 40, up to the Tenants’ Hall which is ideal for large events for up to 350 guests.

They also host their famous wedding show in the grounds every winter. Jam packed full of industry experts, plus a bridal fashion show, this event covers everything a couple could possibly need and want for their wedding celebrations.

combermere abbey cheshire wedding venues

Combermere Abbey

Sitting within acres of rolling parkland on the Shropshire, Cheshire border Combermere Abbey is possibly one of our favourite ever wedding venues. That’s a pretty big statement to be honest, we’ve been to a lot of them!

But what do we love most? There is so much on offer here making it a captivating venue for all seasons, but the gardens and grounds make it truly spectacular. The Victorian Walled Gardens which cover five and a half acres are steeped in history, but also have a really cool, magical vibe going on. Did you know that Combermere is also home to the world’s only fruit tree maze? If that doesn't encourage you to book, we're not sure what will! Surrounding the Edwardian Glasshouse, the maze consists of apple and pear trees, gooseberry bushes and currants which form passages to the centre and back. Just imagine the haul they get during the summer – jams, chutneys, and juices, delicious.

We digress. Enough about preserves, back to weddings! Their Glasshouse is a popular choice for couples to say their vows and if the weather is behaving you should definitely make the most of the Croquet Lawn and Rose Garden for drinks, before heading into the Pavilion. This beautiful building was built entirely with weddings in mind so you can expect designated areas for the bar, dining and of course, dancing!

chester grosvenor cheshire wedding venues

Chester Grosvenor

If you’ve ever visited Chester’s historic city centre then you may have already spotted The Chester Grosvenor Hotel. This majestic black and white, pillared building benefits from its convenient location – right next to the landmark Eastgate Clock. Standing on top of the town walls this clock marks the entrance to the Roman fortress that stood here in the 2nd century. Apparently, it’s the second most photographed clock in the UK (after Big Ben) so it would be a shame not to capture a creative portrait shot once you’ve sealed the deal!

As well being a fairy tale wedding venue, The Chester Grosvenor is also an award-winning, luxury hotel with a Michelin-starred restaurant and spa within. The perfect place for food and wine lovers to hold their special day. Imagine feeding your friends and family a bespoke wedding breakfast menu designed and created by Michelin-starred chef, Simon Radley – the dream!

arley hall cheshire wedding venues

Arley Hall

Arley Hall and Gardens is easily one of the most characterful, charming, and interesting country house wedding venues in the Cheshire. Having been in the same family since the fifteenth century, and still a much-loved family home, you can see the estate's evolution through the blend of traditional, homely charm and modern ideas and additions.

The house with its lavish ceilings, elaborate carvings and stained-glass windows are incredibly impressive but like Combermere Abbey, it’s the gardens at Arley Hall that really give this venue it’s wow-factor moment. The herbaceous border is probably it's best-known feature and is regularly fawned over by the general public. We love an early evening stroll with our wedding couples, exploring their venue and seeking out interesting features or backdrops that might usually be overlooked. Arley Hall has this in spades!

iscoyd park stunning cheshire wedding venue

Iscoyd Park

Technically touching the borders of Cheshire, Shropshire, and North Wales we might be stretching the brief slightly by appointing Iscoyd a ‘Cheshire’ wedding venue. But we just couldn’t leave this breath-taking private house off the list.

Owners Phil and Susie Godsal have lovingly restored this family home into an exquisite, elegant venue in the heart of the English countryside. Their aim is to provide ‘the best of the past and the thrill of the present’. They've managed this by keeping elements of its historical past visible but blending this beautifully with contemporary, stylish touches and innovative ideas. The team always go the extra mile, they don’t do wedding packages (which is quite refreshing) and ensure all their food is locally sourced.

Iscoyd might also be the best smelling Cheshire wedding venue we have visited! Probably thanks to those Neom candles in the Entrance Hall – nice touch team.

sandhole oak barn cheshire wedding venue

Sandhole Oak Barn

For couples looking for a quieter, relaxed and secluded venue, Sandhole Oak Barn is a really great option. Not just due to its lakeside setting (which is awesome by the way), but because of the rustic, elegant style and the nod to nature present throughout.

They have two traditional oak barns at Sandhole. A smaller licensed barn for indoor ceremonies and a second larger barn for dining and dancing. Both have been built to fully take advantage of the spectacular view across the lake, with full length windows giving both spaces a light and airy feel. You will literally be surrounded by nature here. Lush greenery, sparkling water and the rolling Cheshire Hills beyond. As you might imagine, the sunsets here are pretty incredible too.

colshaw hall cheshire wedding venues

Colshaw Hall

Colshaw Hall is situated on a private 300-acre country estate in an idyllic village just outside Knutsford. Of course we can mention that Colshaw is an exclusive-use, immaculate country house wedding venue, but more importantly – it’s dog friendly. We’re big dog fans (we have two; Sheila and Maude) but it’s always a welcome surprise when couples let a dog, or two, attend their wedding!

There’s a brilliant blend of traditional elegance here through the Hall’s architecture, manicured gardens, and oak-framed Ceremony Room. But this is then balanced with the addition of the contemporary style and facilities in The Peel Suite – their purpose-built reception room with exceptional garden views.

heaton house farm cheshire wedding venues

Heaton House Farm

A true ‘hidden gem’ of a venue. Set behind an unassuming farming façade, Heaton House Farm is full of rustic charm and character. Still a working dairy farm, although it’s probably important to say that this wouldn't impact your wedding day! The venue comprises a collection of sandstone barn buildings, with a backdrop of rolling hills, ancient trees, and their own private water gardens.

Nestled on the borders of Cheshire and Staffordshire this exclusive-use venue is surrounded by stunning scenery, beautiful aspects, and barley fields. Perfect for the classic golden hour portrait shoot, with a twist – we are The Crawleys after all!

nunsmere hall stunning cheshire wedding venue

Nunsmere Hall

Nunsmere Hall is a quintessentially romantic wedding venue. Concealed within the ancient Delamere Forest and bounded on three sides by a magnificent 60-acre lake – this is one impressive place. As well as being a unique wedding venue in an unrivalled setting, Nunsmere is also one of the country’s finest luxury hotels. Taking inspiration from its past hosting glittering parties in the 19th Century they erected a large marquee in the gardens which has a capacity for up to 400 guests! Imagine wisteria-clad walkways, lakeside views and neatly manicured gardens. Combine this with stylish interiors, delicious food, and impeccable service, and you pretty much have Nunsmere in a nutshell.

crewe hall amazing cheshire wedding venue

Crewe Hall

You might assume that Crewe Hall is located in the railway town of Crewe…and you’d be correct! Named after the Crewe family this country house has been demolished, rebuilt, restored and extended over the years. But we think this only adds to the rich history which runs throughout the estate.

For example, inside the Reception Hall is a monumental fireplace made from veined marble with the word ‘Welcome’ carved boldly into the stone. There are other fireplaces within made from jasper, onyx, and a variety of coloured marble too. Not forgetting the exquisite plasterwork, the stained-glass windows and the double height room, the Hall of Pillars. Crewe Hall is certainly grand and majestic, home to a wealth of decoration and incredible detail throughout.

Sleep in one of the 117 bedrooms which could be straight out of a period drama, but party hard in the large modern events wing which is luxurious in every way. There’s a lot on offer and the possibilities may seem endless but as with many of the venues featured they have a dedicated team on hand to assist couples on their wedding planning journey.
